Brief summary: One of the coordinators of the group, Dr. Francisco B. Ortega, has been selected for the World Health Organization’s committee of experts that will develop the Global Recommendations on Physical Activity in 2020. Dr. Ortega is the only Spaniard selected for this committee. 25 world-renowned researchers from the United States, Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom, Africa and Europe make up this international group of experts who will work for a year and a half on the systematic review of the scientific evidence on physical activity and health, and the development of specific recommendations for children/adolescents, adults, the elderly, pregnancy and postpartum, and specific groups with chronic diseases and disabilities.

Social impact – dissemination: The WHO is the most important institution in the field of health promotion at a global level, and among its main objectives is the promotion of physical activity in a world that is increasingly inactive as a result of technological development. The WHO’s media outreach and social impact is very high and reaches not only Europe and developed countries, but all corners of the world.
