Brief summary

Scientific-technical collaboration with Wiemspro LTD, whose objective was to compare the effect of different training programs ([i] concurrent training following the recommendations of the World Health Organization, [ii] high intensity intervallic training and [iii] training with global full body electro-stimulation) of 12 weeks duration on diverse health markers in healthy sedentary adults.

Indications of quality:

The results of the investigations developed in collaboration with the company Wiemspro LTD showed that all the training modalities improved various health parameters (physical condition, body composition, energy metabolism and cardio-metabolic health) without statistical differences between them, but with a slight tendency towards the fact that training with global electro-stimulation produced slightly higher improvements in certain parameters despite its lower training volume.

Social impact:

In the light of these results, the company has created a training platform based on the results of the study in order to avoid malpractice by trainers when designing training programmes with this technology. Likewise, the company organizes annual symposiums in different countries of the world (Portugal, France, USA, Brazil, etc.) in order to provide a permanent update to the users of this technology by the researchers of our research group.

The collaboration with Wiemspro LTD has resulted in the publication of several scientific articles:
